It's the question everybody want's to know the answer to...
'How do I get a toned tummy?' 'How can I lose weight?' 'How do I lose weight fast'
Here we have put together a simple guide to inform you of the key components of how you can achieve flattening your stomach.
Follow a healthy diet.
The main ingredient to getting a flatter toned tummy and general weight loss is to follow a healthy diet (always). View this step as more of a 'lifestyle change' rather than a 'crash diet' if you take the steps of eating healthy to get to your ideal weight and then revert back to old ways then you will simply pile the pounds back on again. Also, it is proven that eating a cleaner diet is far healthier than eating processed foods and having a poor diet.
Ensure you are consuming good carbohydrates, healthy fats and good quality sources of protein. Who said eating healthy had to be boring? Why not try a healthy smoothie bowl topped with fresh fruits. Mhmm d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s!
Try and include a portion of fruit or vegetables with each meal. If you feel peckish have some fruit instead of a snack bar.
Cut your portion sizes.
Often people are gaining weight as they are eating far more than what they are burning off each day. This tends to be large portion sizes or comfort eating. Comfort eating can often be from craving food when you actually are thirsty. We recommend drinking plenty of water each day and try to have a glass of water if you are craving unhealthy foods.
Try using smaller plates so you fit less food on your plate. If you are having desserts frequently then reduce this significantly. As part of your food plate ensure you are intaking enough protein, healthy carbs and pack some of your favourite vegetables on the plate too. If you hate eating vegetables why not try sprinkling some of your favourite seasoning on to give it extra flavour as some people often complain that vegetables 'taste boring'.
Sugar is not your friend it is in fact your enemy! having less sugar in your system will lower your insulin levels. We also advise if you replace sugar with artificial sweeteners do this with care. While they may help to reduce daily calorie intake, there is also research suggesting they can increase in hunger which will result in weight gain.
Exercise is important. Are you doing enough exercise?
Alongside eating healthier if you exercise daily or at least 3-4 times per week you will see results faster. If you are bored of running or walking or doing the same old thing in the gym try mixing things up. Run one day, hike another, swim or cycle and why not try some gym fitness classes.
